Booking Policy & Terms and Conditions

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy

By booking a course, workshop or training session with Trend Tiling & DIY Academy, you agree to the following terms and conditions.

1. Booking a Course

When you book a course with Trend Tiling & DIY Academy, your place will be registered against your chosen course date, subject to the payment and class confirmation terms set out below.

Once your booking is confirmed and a place on your chosen course is secured, we will send you a confirmation email with joining instructions. This may include details about the course, start time, location, what to bring, and any other relevant information.

All courses are conducted in English.

A reasonable level of physical fitness is required, as our courses are practical and may involve standing, bending, lifting, kneeling, using hand tools, and carrying out hands-on tasks.

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy reserves the right to refuse a booking or cancel a previously accepted booking if new information comes to light that makes the course unsuitable for the learner, or where a learner fails to comply with these terms and conditions.

Where we cancel a booking for suitability reasons, and the cancellation is not due to a breach of these terms, we will refund any payments already made.

2. Class Minimum Headcount & Cancellation Policy

All public workshops, including tiling, DIY, carpentry, woodworking, flat pack and flooring courses, are subject to a minimum attendance threshold of three (3) participants.

This minimum number allows us to provide a good group learning environment while also covering the raw material, preparation and delivery costs involved in running practical hands-on workshops.

Card Authorisation at Booking

At the time of booking, the customer is required to provide valid credit or debit card details.

This process securely authorises and registers the customer’s intent to attend the selected course. However, the customer will be charged £0.00 at the point of booking unless otherwise clearly stated during the booking process.

Providing card details does not mean payment has been taken immediately. It allows Trend Tiling & DIY Academy to securely hold the booking and process payment only if the course reaches the required minimum attendance threshold.

72-Hour Confirmation Window

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy will review course registration numbers no later than seventy-two (72) hours before the scheduled course start time.

Course Confirmation

If the course reaches the minimum attendance threshold of three (3) participants by 72 hours before the start time, the course will be officially confirmed.

Once the course is confirmed, the authorised payment, either the deposit or full course fee as specified at the time of booking, will be processed automatically using the card securely held on file.

The customer will then receive confirmation that the course is going ahead.

Low-Attendance Cancellation

If the minimum attendance threshold of three (3) participants is not reached 72 hours before the course start time, Trend Tiling & DIY Academy reserves the right to cancel the session.

In this situation:

  • The customer will be notified by email.

  • The card authorisation will be voided at a cost of £0.00.

  • No funds will be deducted from the customer’s account.

  • We will contact the customer to help find a suitable future course date where possible.

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy is not liable for any secondary costs incurred by the customer, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, childcare, parking, time off work, or other personal arrangements.

Customers are advised not to book non-refundable travel or accommodation until the course has been officially confirmed.

3. Course Payments

Where a course is confirmed and payment becomes due, the payment will be processed using the card details provided at the time of booking, unless an alternative payment method has been agreed in writing.

Payment may be taken as either a deposit or the full course fee, depending on the course type and the payment option selected at the time of booking.

Late or failed payments may result in the customer’s place being cancelled, suspended or offered to another learner.

Where payment remains outstanding, Trend Tiling & DIY Academy reserves the right to take appropriate steps to recover the unpaid balance. This may include using a third party or debt collection service.

If finance is arranged through a third-party finance provider, the finance agreement is directly between the customer and the finance provider. The customer is responsible for complying with that provider’s repayment terms.

4. Course Scheduling and Changes

Course dates, times, tutors, content and locations may occasionally need to be changed due to operational reasons, tutor availability, safety concerns, low attendance, illness, weather conditions or circumstances outside our control.

Where possible, we will provide as much notice as reasonably practical.

Any request by a customer to reschedule a course must be submitted in writing.

Reschedule requests are subject to availability and a £20 administration fee.

Changes are only permitted where the request is made more than 14 days before the course start date.

For courses booked within 14 days of the start date, changes are not normally permitted due to preparation, staffing, materials and logistical commitments.

5. Customer Cancellation Policy

A 14-day cooling-off period applies where a customer books more than 21 days before the course start date.

If a customer cancels within this cooling-off period, a refund will be provided, minus an administration fee of:

  • £30 for short courses and one-day workshops.

  • £60 for longer courses or multi-day courses.

If the customer cancels after the cooling-off period, the deposit is non-refundable.

Where a balance has not yet been paid, the customer will not normally be liable for the remaining balance unless otherwise stated at the time of booking.

If a course has already been confirmed, prepared, or is due to begin within 14 days, refunds or changes may not be available.

All cancellation requests must be made in writing.

6. Absences, Late Arrival and Non-Attendance

No refunds are provided for non-attendance, missed sessions or absences once a course has commenced.

If a customer arrives late, they may miss important safety briefings or practical demonstrations. In some circumstances, late arrival may mean the customer cannot safely take part in the session.

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy is not responsible for delays caused by traffic, public transport, personal circumstances, illness, childcare issues or other events affecting the customer’s ability to attend.

In cases of extreme weather, serious illness or exceptional circumstances, we may, at our discretion, offer an alternative date. Proof of circumstances may be required.

Any offer to reschedule is discretionary and does not create an automatic right to a refund or transfer.

7. Health, Safety and Suitability

Our courses are practical and hands-on. Customers are expected to follow all safety instructions given by the tutor or academy staff.

Customers must wear suitable clothing and footwear. Closed-toe footwear is required. Customers should wear clothing they do not mind getting dusty, marked or damaged.

Personal protective equipment will be provided where required, although customers may bring their own suitable PPE if they prefer.

Customers must inform Trend Tiling & DIY Academy before attending if they have any medical condition, injury, disability, pregnancy-related concern, allergy or other issue that may affect their ability to safely participate.

We will make reasonable adjustments where possible, but we may advise that a course is unsuitable if participation could create a safety risk to the customer, tutor or other learners.

8. Unacceptable Behaviour

The consumption of alcohol or drugs on academy premises is strictly prohibited.

Customers must not attend a course under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any substance that may affect their ability to participate safely.

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy reserves the right to remove any learner who behaves in a disruptive, unsafe, aggressive, abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate manner.

Where a learner is removed due to unacceptable behaviour, no refund will be provided.

9. Tools, Materials and Course Content

Tools and materials are provided for most workshops unless otherwise stated.

Customers are welcome to bring their own tools if they wish, but Trend Tiling & DIY Academy accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal tools, equipment, clothing or belongings brought onto the premises.

Course content may vary slightly depending on the course, group ability, available time, safety considerations, materials, tutor discretion and learner needs.

We aim to provide a high-quality practical learning experience, but completion of a course does not guarantee mastery, trade competence, employment, paid work or the ability to undertake work professionally without further practice and experience.

10. Certificates and Handouts

Where stated, learners may receive a certificate of completion.

Certificates confirm attendance and completion of the relevant workshop. They do not represent a formal trade qualification unless specifically stated.

Handouts may be provided for certain courses. These are for personal learning and reference only and must not be copied, sold, distributed or reproduced without permission from Trend Tiling & DIY Academy.

11. Disclaimer and No Guarantee of Employment

Any advice provided during a course regarding career routes, qualifications, tools, materials, trade work, pricing, business setup or employment opportunities is based on experience and information available at the time.

Such advice is general guidance only and should not be relied upon as a guarantee of employment, earnings, trade competency or business success.

It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure they are competent, insured, legally compliant and appropriately trained before carrying out any work for themselves, customers or third parties.

12. Accommodation and Travel

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy may provide general information about nearby accommodation or local facilities where requested.

This information is provided for assistance only. We are not responsible for booking, managing, guaranteeing or refunding any external accommodation, travel or other third-party arrangements.

Customers are advised not to book non-refundable travel or accommodation until their course has been officially confirmed.

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy is not liable for any travel, accommodation or other secondary costs if a course is rescheduled, cancelled or postponed.

13. Force Majeure

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy is not liable for delays, cancellations or failure to perform where this results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Severe weather.

  • Illness or injury.

  • Transport disruption.

  • Strikes.

  • Power cuts.

  • Fire, flood or property damage.

  • Government restrictions.

  • Public health issues.

  • Supplier issues.

  • Events that make it unsafe or impractical to run the course.

Where possible, we will try to offer an alternative date, but refunds may not be available where cancellation or delay is caused by circumstances beyond our control.

14. Liability

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy’s liability for any claim arising from a booking, course, workshop or training session is limited to the fee paid for that course.

We are not liable for indirect losses, consequential losses, loss of earnings, loss of profit, loss of opportunity, loss of business, travel costs, accommodation costs or other secondary expenses.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

15. Photography, Video and Marketing

From time to time, we may take photos or videos during workshops for training, promotional or marketing purposes.

If you do not wish to appear in any photos or videos, please let us know before the course begins.

We will always aim to respect reasonable privacy requests.

16. General Terms

Trend Tiling & DIY Academy reserves the right to modify course arrangements, update course content, amend prices, change tutors, adjust schedules or refuse bookings at our discretion.

Any changes to qualification routes, course structures, suppliers, materials or external awarding bodies may affect course cost, duration or availability.

By booking a course, the customer accepts that practical course delivery may involve reasonable adjustments where necessary.

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms will continue to apply.

These terms apply to bookings made with Trend Tiling & DIY Academy, also referred to as Trend Tiling Academy.

17. Agreement

By booking a course, workshop or training session with Trend Tiling & DIY Academy, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Booking Terms and Conditions.
